This blog provides information and updates from Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Science’s first ever Artist in Residence, Carter Shappy, as he spends a total of four months immersed in life at BLOS. Shappy will be responding to his experience with a resulting installation at the East Boothbay BLOS campus. Follow along as he shares his work and thoughts throughout his residency.
Artist Bio
Carter Shappy is a painter, printmaker and installation artist currently living in Portland, Maine, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maine College of Art. He was born in Rutland, Vermont, but spent most of his childhood to high school years living and working in Burlington while briefly attending the Community College of Vermont. Carter is currently the print shop manager at Running with Scissors Artist Studio located in East Bayside, Portland, Maine.
